DLA Piper leads AmLaw Global 100 ranking

October 8, 2013 The American Lawyer magazine announced its Global 100, ranking the world’s 100 highest earning firms and recording revenue, profits per partner and attorney headcount.

Of the top 100 firms, 77 are American, 13 are British, five are Australian and there is one firm each from Canada, China, France, Spain, and the Netherlands. Eight firms are structured as vereins or as European Economic Interest Groups (EEIGs).

DLA Piper leads the pack in terms of gross revenue, bringing in $2.44 billion to overtake Baker & McKenzie for the first time. DLA Piper’s figures represent an increase in earnings of 8.6 percent from last year. Baker & McKenzie grew revenues by 4.6 per cent to $2.419 billion.

The biggest move in the upper reaches of the ranking came from Kirkland & Ellis, which increased revenue by $187,500,000, jumping from ninth to sixth place in the top 10 ranking.
