US firms Orrick and Pillsbury in merger talks
Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman are currently in merger negotiations. If it goes ahead, the merger would create a combined firm with revenues of around $1.4 billion and a headcount of more than 1,500 lawyers.
Pillsbury has 15 offices in the US, Europe, Asia and Abu Dhabi, and Orrick has presences in 10 jurisdictions in North America, Europe and Asia.
Pillsbury chairman James Rishwain said: “Our firms are in exploratory discussions about a possible combination. These talks are serving to confirm the great respect our firms have for each other. We have nothing further to report at this time.”
This won’t be the first outing for Orrick, which has held talks with UK firms including Bird & Bird and SJ Berwin, as well as Dewey Ballantine in 2006.
