Baker & Hostetler to merge with Philadelphia firm

November 26, 2013 Baker & Hostetler is moving toward a merger with Philadelphia-based intellectual property boutique Woodcock Washburn. If it is approved by the vote of the firm’s respective partnerships, the merger will take place on 1 January 2014.

The merger would add 68 lawyers and three new offices - in Atlanta, Philadelphia and Seattle - to BakerHostetler’s business, which currently stands at 800 lawyers in 11 cities. The merger would also double the headcount in BakerHostetler’s intellectual property practice.

“As part of our overall growth strategy, we have talked about expanding in major markets where we do not currently have a presence,” said executive partner Steven Kestner of BakerHostetler. “Woodcock Washburn’s offices place us in three important new cities where their attorneys have strong, established client relationships.”
