January 10, 2014 Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison has boosted its New York tax practice with the hire of partner Scott M. Sontag from Weil Gotshal & Manges.

Sontag has experience with structured and negotiated merger and acquisition transactions for private equity funds and their portfolio companies, as well as publicly held clients. He has also advised clients on transactions involving the formation and acquisition of REITs and on real estate acquisitions, dispositions and restructurings.

"We are delighted to welcome Scott to our firm, where he will be a wonderful addition to our tax department and enhance our transactional practice," said the firm’s chair, Brad S. Karp.

The sentiment was echoed by the co-chair of the firm’s tax department, Richard Bronstein; "Scott is recognized as one of the most talented tax lawyers in the country, and he brings extensive experience to advising clients on a broad range of transactions."
