UK firm Clifford Chance introduces 'CV Blind' policy

January 17, 2014 British based firm Clifford Chance has introduced a new recruitment policy, whereby interviewers cannot see the information about where candidates went to university.

The “CV blind” policy, which was adopted last year, aims to eliminate bias in favour of Oxford, Cambridge and other leading schools, and it seems to have had that effect, as the firm increased the number of institutions from which it recruited trainees by 28 per cent.

The firm is also reserving many of the positions in its vacation programs for students who come through an “Intelligent Aid” competition, which involves writing an essay and doing a presentation.
