WilmerHale awards merit-based bonuses
WilmerHale has awarded its end of year bonuses for 2013, with associates awarded differing amounts based on the firm’s merit-based compensation system.
The firm awards bonuses to lawyers who bill 1900+ hours, and since every bonus is different it is difficult to generalise about whether associates are happy with the amount. Some commentators speculate that the merit-based scheme is a thinly veiled cost-saving measure, while others say 41% of associates received a bonus above the market standard.
