Orrick reports 0% trainee retention
Orrick has reported a 0% trainee retention rate this spring, by failing to keep the only trainee in its London office. The result might not seem so bad in itself, but the statistic follows on from unimpressive results for recent intakes: the firm kept three out of six trainees in 2012, and last September none of its five qualifiers were kept on.
Commentators say that the trainees at Orrick are suffering from the firm’s over-optimistic growth estimates.
The trainee retention figures were a little better at Trowers & Hamlins, which has offered graduate roles with all six of its trainees, continuing its perfect retention score from last year’s March intake.
