Ashurst loses star competition partner to Mayer Brown

February 7, 2014 Ashurst has lost high-profile competition partner Julian Ellison from its Brussels practice. Ellison is shifting over to join Mayer Brown’s antitrust and competition team.

Ellison has been a partner at Ashurst since 1989, and led the firm’s Brussels office for a number of years.

Kiran Desai, head of Mayer Brown’s Brussels office said: “Julian has a very impressive CV. He has experience of working on 10 phase two merger inquiries and cases before the European Commission, which is more than most- if not all antitrust partners - in Europe today.”

A spokesperson from Ashurst commented: “After 33 years at Ashurst, Julian has decided it time for a change and a new challenge. He is a very well regarded lawyer who has made a significant contribution to the Brussels office and our market leading EU and competition practice. We wish him well.”
