Stephenson Harwood makes redundancies in London

February 7, 2014 Stephenson Harwood is laying off almost half of its London support staff. The numbers of affected staff are not yet known, but reports say the workers have been offered the legal minimum of redundancy pay.

The firm is reportedly outsourcing its secretarial work to Scotland.

A statement released on behalf of the firm said that "the aim of this reorganisation is to provide a more efficient and cost effective secretarial service to our fee earners – a move which has been undertaken by many law firms. Regrettably the proposed reorganisation will entail a reduction in secretarial and document production staffing levels and will inevitably result in some redundancies.”
