UK firm Shakespeares asks associates to bill a lot more

April 1, 2014 UK firm Shakespeares has asked associates to bill an extra £100,000 a year, offering a £5,000 bonus for those that pull for the team

The firm has made a number of redundancies and pay cuts recently, responding to an overstretched budget following a string of acquisitions.

RollOnFriday points out that at an average billing rate of £200 an hour, associates would need to put in an extra 500 hours a year to get the bonus. Figuring for the amount of time in the work day that is un-billable, this would mean an extra three hours in the office every single day.
