Sacramento firm Downey Brand loses three partners
Downey Brand is losing three of its partners, who are leaving to launch their own boutique firm.
Tom Stewart, Winnie Ward and Gregg Josephson are forming Stewart Ward & Josephson LLP, effective Monday. The firm will specialise in real estate and business law transactions, offering services to local, state and national clients.
Downey Brand has seen a number of lawyers leaving to launch new firms in recent months, and sought to address any problems with the election of Scott Shapiro as managing partner and Stan Van Vleck as chair - both of whom promised a more collaborative work environment and management efforts designed to attract a wide range of clients.
At the time, Shapiro indicated that he expected a “handful” of departures as a result of the changes and general legal industry trends.
