Group of 14 lawyers leaves Bingham McCutchen

June 2, 2014 A group of 14 lawyers, including nine partners, are reportedly leaving Bingham McCutchen. The group includes Richard Fries, the chief of Bingham's real estate practice, who is taking up a position at Sidley Austin, and partner Mike Levy, who is headed to Paul Hastings along with a group of eight other lawyers.

It is further reported that some of the 14 will join Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.

The firm has been having a tough year, confirming in February that revenue had dropped 12.6 percent between 2012 and 2013. A spokesperson for the firm commented that the departures were "because of forward-looking business decisions we made and because of a challenging 2013.”
