Dentons to stop publishing annual profit figures
Dentons has announced that it will no longer publish annual profit figures, breaking from the tradition of large law firms.
Dentons made the move because multiple mergers in recent years have left the firm with a verein structure and multiple profit pools in different jurisdictions, making it difficult to produce a single global profit number. The firm's CEO and Chairman explained that aggregate profit figures don’t make sense when firms operate in both mature and emerging markets. He added that profit figures are "too frequently, and erroneously, used as an indication of the quality of a firm".
The firm will instead publish global turnover and the number of partners.
