Australian managing partner Chris Freeland says that the firm was considering a launch in Brisbane for a number of years, but it wasn’t until now that the value proposition was right to launch a new office there.
The Brisbane team will be led by Darren Fooks, who was hired from Clayton Utz a few months ago. Fooks is joined by Jo Daniels, a competition and regulatory specialist from Allens, and Philip Christensen, a former senior partner at Herbert Smith Freehills, along with more than 12 Brisbane lawyers. The firm intends to grow the Brisbane offering, and is reportedly in discussions with partners from rival firms.
