Mayer Brown plans launch in Mexico City
Mayer Brown is making plans to open an office in Mexico City. The firm will seek approval from Mexico to open the office after hiring energy lawyer Francisco Mendez from ExxonMobil. Mendez would be based in the office there, which would sever clients that operate and invest in oil, gas and power industries locally. Currently, Mendez will be based at Mayer Brown's Houston office.
Mendez has experience advising oil, gas and power issues in several South American countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. He will join a team of international lawyers that aim to grow the firm's energy practice.
