Cahill Gordon & Reindel first to gain ABS license

April 14, 2015 US firm Cahill Gordon & Reindel hired partner Richard Kelly to build its London litigation practice, after becoming the first US firm to be licensed by the Solicitors' Regulation Authority (SRA) as an ABS. Cahill first opened its London office in 2000 and recently moved locations to expand its practice.

Kelly comes to Cahill from Shearman Sterling, where he spent five years. Before joining Shearman, he was a judicial assistant. Kelly is Cahill's only UK-qualified partner and he has been named head of legal practice at the firm. US partners Jim Robinson and Anthony Tama are based in the London office.

Kelly has focused experience acting for investment banks on complex litigation, investigations and risk management mandates. He has worked with financial institutions and large corporations on a wide range of disputes.
