Contenders for Slaughter and May's senior partner appear

July 15, 2015 A few viable contenders to take the place of retiring Slaughter & May senior partner Chris Saul next spring have emerged. Saul announced his retirement less than a month ago. He was elected to a five-year term in 2008. That term extended, however, for another three years and is set to end toward the end of this year.

One contender, Steve Cooke, has been head of the firm's M&A practice since 2001. A fellow contender is partner Andy Ryde. Ryde took on the role of head of corporate practice at the firm last year.

Some at the firm believe that corporate partners, such as current senior partner Saul, have an advantage in being positioned for such a leadership role. They believe a couple more corporate finance partners, Roland Turnill and Martin Hatrell may also have a chance.
