Kirkland & Ellis plucks Freshfields partner
Kirkland & Ellis has lured partner Michael Steele away from Freshfield Bruckhaus Deringer. Steele joined Freshfields in 2008 as a senior associate and became partner in 2012.
Steele was Freshfields' relationship partner for the Blackstone Group and Goldman Sachs. He spent a year in Goldman Sachs' leveraged finance team in 2010. He advises financial institutions, funds and sponsors on a multitude of cross-border financing transactions, such as leveraged finance, loan portfolio acquisitions and restructurings.
Kirkland has borne several arrivals and departures in its practice. At the beginning of June, it lose high-yield partner Ward McKimm, when he moved over to Freshfields.
