DLA Piper continues hiring in Australia
DLA Piper continued its recent hiring spree, bringing in Australian M&A partner James Philips as partner to its practice in Australia. Philips comes to DLA from Minter Ellison, where he was co-head of M&A.
Philips' practice has included transactions valued over AU$100 billion, hostile takeover bids, schemes of arrangement, public to privates, privatisations and equity capital markets. He also lectures at the University of Sydney about corporate fundraising.
DLA has been rushing recently to boost its corporate practice offering in the Asia Pacific region. Philips is the firms sixth corporate partner to be hired in Australia in the past four months. Partners Grant Koch in Sydney, Michael Bowen, Scott Gibson Marc Wilshaw and their teams in Perth, and David Hallam just yesterday in Melbourne have all been recruited as part of the firm's desire to boost its corporate offering.
