DLA Piper appoints new global co-chair
DLA Piper has filled its newly-created global co-chair of banking and finance role, selecting UK head of finance and projects Philip Butler for the position. In addition to his duties as UK head, Butler will run DLA's European banking and finance practice alongside partner Frank Schwem, based in Frankfurt.
The new role was created as part of a new global business strategy announced last week by the firm. In conjunction with the new strategy, which will target seven key sectors based on myriad criteria to drive the firm's global business, Sheffield managing partner Richard May has announced he will step down from his managing partner role in order to fully apply himself as global head of manufacturing. Stepping up to lead the Sheffield office is EMEA mining head Petra Billing.
May's goal will be to develop the firm's manufacturing practices in Asia and continental Europe, owing to the firm's international client base.
