Defections from Linklaters Hong Kong mount
Linklaters partner in Hong Kong is leaving the practice, this time moving to PricewaterhouseCoopers. Corporate partner Samantha Thompson will join PwC as director and board secretary and be based in London.
Thompson has spent the past 10 years in Hong Kong. She joined Slaughter and May in London as a trainee and became an associate there before joining Hong Kong firm Deacons in 2005. A year later, she moved to Linklaters as a managing associate and became a partner in 2009.
Thompson has worked on corporate finance transactions, such as cross-border public and private M&A and advises international investment and commercial banks and corporations.
Linklaters has suffered a string of departures, especially in Hong Kong. This year alone say partners Jon Gray, David Irvine, Peggy Wang and Asia US securities head David Ludwick all leave the firm. Additionally, several managing associates and counsel have moved to greener pastures.
