Orrick appoints former Weil Gotshal partner in Munich
Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe appointed former Weil Gotshal & Manges partner Thomas Schmid to head its German M&A and private equity practice in Munich.
Schmid has centered his practice around cross-border and domestic private equity, mergers & acquisitions and restructuring transactions. He has been involved on several major pharmaceutical industry transactions, representing the likes of Eli Lilly and German biotech company MorphoSys recently.
Schmid was recruited from Weil Gotshal after having impressed US firm Orrick. He was enticed by a combination of factors, including his own ability to develop his practice more independently than was the case at his former firm.
Schmid begins his new role in November.
