DWF retains 35 of 47 autumn trainees
DWF has retained 35 of its 47 qualifying trainees for this autumn, a 74% retention rate. The newly-qualified lawyers are mainly situated in London and Manchester. A handful take up roles in Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
From the total of newly-qualified lawyers, twenty will join the firm's corporate and banking practice. From the remaining fifteen, six join the real estate team, five join the litigation team and four join the insurance team.
The firm had traditionally posted high retention rates. However, since 2011, the firm has gone through some mergers, increasing the intake size for its trainees considerably. As a result of the larger intake pool, its retention rates have dipped.
