Clyde & Co nabs BLP co-head
Clyde & Co has added Berwin Leighton Paisner's arbitration head Richard Power to its international arbitration team. Power was a partner at BLP for the past five years and has served as co-head of international arbitration as well as head of energy disputes since last December.
Power is expected to lend his experience to what Clyde's perceives is a swell in the energy dispute sector. Owing to falling oil prices and the disruptions that has caused in the energy sector combined with geopolitical instability and tendencies towards regulation, the firm is expecting a greater likelihood of disputes cropping up worldwide. The firm has been growing its global arbitration team over the past 18 months and this hiring follows suit with that pattern.
Other major partner hires have included Clifford Chance's China head of litigation and arbitration Patrick Zheng, Eversheds' Middle East chairman Chris Jobson, Venable's Brian Dunning, Rajah & Tann's Prakash Pillai and Lee & Ko's international disputes head June Yeum.
