Holman Fenwick Willan makes action plan to target gender equality
Holman Fenwick Willan describes its new target to raise percentage of women in its partnership from 12.2 percent to 30 percent by the year 2020 as aspirational. The target has been established as part of a broader focus on improving gender diversity at the firm.
The firm will target its efforts at first on the numbers of its junior women partners. The firm recognizes its target will be difficult to achieve.
Earlier this year, HFW asked an independent consultant to conduct a series of focus groups with its female lawyers. The process involved 68 percent of the female and partners and associates at the firm. The results have led the firm to consider multiple avenues to better enable women to better their careers and make partner at the firm.
Some of the measures considered were unconscious bias training, increasing understanding and awareness of gender diversity as a business issue and promoting flexible working and support for parents, both men and women.
