Jones Day opens in Brisbane

February 1, 2016 Jones Day is stretching its reach in Australia with the opening of a new office in Brisbane, its third on the continent and second opening in as many years. The office will begin focusing its offering in the M&A, projects and project-related disputes sectors as well as the natural resources, construction, transport and agriculture sectors.

The opening coincides with the hire of the chairman of Australian firm McCullough Robertson, Brett Heading. Heading will join the firm in Brisbane as a partner. The new office will be led by John Cooper, who was in charge of the firm's Perth office, which opened in 2014. Cooper came to Jones Day in 2013 from Allens in Sydney, where he was a partner.

Jones Day originally launched on the continent in 1998 with an office in Sydney.
