Mayer Brown continues expansion in Germany
Mayer Brown has hired two partners to join its private equity offering in Germany. The partners Birgit Hübscher-Alt and Julian Lemor come to Mayer Brown from King & Wood Mallesons in Frankfurt. Lemor is German corporate head at KWM.
Both Lemor and Hübscher-Alt advise international and domestic investors and private equity management teams. They also handle investments and succession-planning for family businesses and companies.
Mayer Brown has made a slew of lateral hires in Germany over the past year and appears to be continuing the trend. Among the splashy hires last year were Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton partner Klaus Riehmer, who joined as German corporate head, Volker Junge, formerly counsel at KWM who joined as a tax partner, and finance partner Alexander Behrens, who was formerly a principal associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
The trend continued with the latest hires from KWM as well as the announcement that Clifford Chance partner André Schwanna will join Mayer Brown along with corporate lawyers Benjamin Büttner and Alexander Täumer.
Lemor will join later in the year and will take up the role of head of equity in Germany for Mayer Brown.
