DLA Piper selects new senior partner

March 8, 2016 Less than a month after the announcement that DLA Piper senior partner Nigel Knowles intended to step down from his post at the end of April, the firm has selected his successor, naming their managing director of Europe and the Middle East, corporate partner Juan Picon, to the post.

Picon is based in Madrid and has held his current role at the firm for two years. Picon came to the firm in 2006. Since that time, he has held multiple leadership roles, including Spain managing partner and corporate international group head. In 2012, Picon was appointed to the executive in the role of joint managing director for groups and sectors, a role he shared with the firm’s current global co-CEO, Simon Levine.

Picon will begin in his new capacity as senior partner on 1 May. Knowles, who has been at the firm for 38 years, will retire as a partner on 30 June. Following that, he will continue working as a consultant for the firm.
