New corporate heads named at Allen & Overy

March 23, 2016 Movements at the top levels of Allen & Overy's leadership have given way to more leadership openings being filled. London corporate head Richard Browne, after being the sole candidate, has officially been named as joint leader of the firm's global corporate practice.

Browne will serve alongside Dirk Meeus, who was re-elected to another term at the post. The position opened up when Andrew Ballheimer, who served alongside Meeus for the past 6 years, was appointed to be global managing partner.

Meeus and Browne, who both stood uncontested for election, will begin their four-year terms on 1 May.

In addition to being joint leader, Meeus is managing partner of A&O Belgium. He specializes in equity capital markets, private fundraising and M&A. Browne's practice is broad in scope, including public takeover bids, auctions, private sale and purchase transactions, joint ventures and various equity capital markets transactions. He has been London corporate head since 2010.

His appointment will subsequently create a vacancy for the role of corporate head in London.
