Freshfields planning new services center launch
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is planning to open a second legal services center sometime before the end of 2016. It seems the firm is close to choosing Vancouver, Canada as the location for its new center. No final decisions have been made yet, however.
The planned center would operate in addition to the firm's Manchester legal services hub, which only opened last year and is already home to 300 paralegal and back office staff. Anup Kollanethu, who was hired from Aviva to launch the Manchester center, and continues to run it, will be tapped to lead the newly planned center as well.
At present, the firm is estimating it will launch with around 20 to 35 legal services assistants. A key focus for the new center is to provide legal services for due diligence, e-discovery and standard forms drafting to its offices in China. To that end, the firm will look to tap into a considerable Madarin-speaking labor market that exists in Vancouver.
It is also important that the new services center work in tandem with the Manchester hub to extend 24/7 service support for the firm's clients.
