Clifford Chance appoints new Asia Pacific MP
Clifford Chance has appointed a successor to Asia Pacific managing partner Peter Charlton, naming Singapore managing partner Geraint Hughes to the top regional role.
At present, Hughes is head of the Asia Pacific energy and resources group for the firm and has been managing partner in Singapore for six years. He is scheduled to relocate to Hong Kong in June and will assume his new role in September.
Charlton has served in the regional leadership role for the past eight years. He is returning the UK upon completion of his tenure. Under his leadership, the firm exhibited impressive growth in the region. Its lawyer headcount increased nearly 70 percent, with 450 lawyers currently. The number of partners rose from 30 to 44 in that time and revenues increased more than two fold.
Hughes’ replacement in Singapore has not yet been named.
