Reed Smith and Pepper Hamilton call off potential merger
Pepper Hamilton and Reed Smith have called off negotiation talks about a potential merger.
Pepper Hamilton, which is based in Philadelphia, is about a third of the size of Pittsburgh-based Reed Smith. A merger between the two firms would have resulted in a firm with more than 2000 lawyers, making it among the 20 largest in the world. A merger would also have given Pepper Hamilton an international presence, since Reed Smith currently operates 12 overseas offices.
