London role as Europe gateway questioned after Brexit

June 26, 2016 The result of the Brexit referendum has given way to a multitude of ripple effects, politically and economically. One effect being contemplated is whether the UK will continue to serve as a gateway to Europe for foreign law firms, particularly those from the United States.

Many US firms have opened their doors in the UK and used those offices as springboards to serve clientele throughout the continent

Recruiters of the legal field in London have intimated their belief that there is potential for a slowdown in lateral moves because of Brexit, similar to the atmosphere following the Lehman Brothers collapse. Still, many firm partners and executives believe London will continue to hold an appeal to US firms.
