Freshfields names new global finance head

August 5, 2016 Simon Johnson has been named new global finance head at [Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer ]. Johnson is currently a real estate finance partner at Freshfields, and replaces David Trott, who will remain with the firm in a client-facing role. Johnson was appointed to the position by Freshfields senior partner Edward Braham.

In his new role, Johnson will focus on DCM and high-yield investments, with a particular emphasis on international matters. This transition comes amid a year of changes at the Magic Circle firm, including compensation updates, recruitment practices, and departmental restructuring. Meanwhile, the firm’s financial performance for 2015/16 set it apart from other Magic Circle firms, with a 7% increase in revenue and an 8% increase in profits per equity partner (PEP).
