HSF launches legal services centre in Shanghai
Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has launched a new 13-lawyer legal services operation in Shanghai, expanding on its current alternative legal services business. After launching a global legal services centre in Belfast last year, HSF now operates such centres in Belfast, Brisbane, London, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Shanghai, with a total of 350 staff. The Shanghai centre will include legal analysts and lawyers who are bilingual in Mandarin and English. Regulations in China mandate that certain documents and data cannot be transferred outside the country, thus creating a need for locally-based legal services.
