New research reveals partnership track takes 10 years on average
According to new research by recruitment firm Origin Legal, the average partnership track lawyer takes approximately ten years to reach partner. The research examined 111 partners among the London top 20, as well as lawyers in the Midlands area. Rupert Haxell, owner of Origin Legal, said that the biggest surprise among research findings was the lack of opportunities available to lawyers after twelve years, particularly among those in the magic circle. Prior research indicates that 39% of junior solicitors consider the traditional partnership model outdated, although 42% of Generation Y lawyers still hope to make partner during their careers.
