Weil hires Simpson Thacher competition head

Weil Gotshal & Manges has hired Kevin Arquit of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, where he served as competition head. Prior to joining Simpson Thacher 14 years ago, Arquit worked at Clifford Chance, and he has also previously served as general counsel of the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Arquit will be based in the New York office of Weil, where he joins the firm as co-head of antitrust and competition. He will head up the department with Steven Newborn, his former colleague at Clifford Chance and Rogers & Wells. His experience includes deals involving Sirius Satellite Radio, DirecTV, and Lorillard Inc.
