Litigation funding firm Burford Capital merges with US firm Gerchen Keller

Burford Capital has announced that the firm will acquire US investment management firm Gerchen Keller Capital to create a funding firm with a combined $1.2bn in assets. Chicago-based Gerchen Keller has been a rival of Burford Capital, and the two firms are currently the world’s leading litigation finance funders. Following the merger, the combined company will include 80 staff members, with 20 staff based in Gerchen Keller’s Chicago base. Burford CEO Christopher Bogart said the combination will create a leading firm in the litigation finance field.
