Latham posts 95% trainee retention while Kirkland retains 56%

Latham & Watkins and Kirkland & Ellis have revealed their autumn trainee retention rates, as Magic Circle firms begin to report their retention numbers. Latham will retain 95% of its London-based trainees, with 21 of 22 trainees staying on with the firm. They will join various departments, including corporate, litigation and finance. Meanwhile, Kirkland & Ellis has retained 56% of this year’s trainees, compared to last year’s autumn round, when the firm kept on 100 per cent of trainees.
