Sidley Austin hires partner James wood from Ashurst

Ashurst M&A partner James Wood has left his position at the firm after just two years to join Sidley Austin. He joined Ashurst in 2015 following a 14-year stint at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Wood began his career with Australian firm Allens Arthur Robinson, and later joined Freshfields, where he spent four years in the firm’s Tokyo location. According to Matthew Dening, London managing partner at Sidley Austin, Wood’s experience in public and private M&A matters will help boost the firm’s capabilities.
