Kirkland & Ellis announces successor to Jeffrey Hammes
Kirkland & Ellis has announced that Jon Ballis will take over as chair in 2020, when current chair Jeffrey Hammes is slated to step down from the position.
Ballis is based in the firm’s Chicago office and specializes in private equity. He previously worked at Sidley Austin before joining Kirkland 20 years ago.
Hammes has held the position since 2010, and oversaw a period of growth that saw Kirkland & Ellis rise to an internationally renowned firm. He has been with the firm since 1985, having made partner in 1991.
