New ethics standards for New York lawyers take effect 1 April

A new Rules of Professional Conduct, the code governing the professional conduct of lawyers admitted in the State of New York, comes into effect on 1 April. Those familiar with the Rules say they are largely similar to the Lawyers' Code of Professional Responsibility, the previous standards, but the numbering system is based on the Model Rules, a uniform system adopted by numerous other US states.
