Bingham hires former SEC chairman Christopher Cox

Bingham McCutchen LLP has hired Christopher Cox, former chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under President George W. Bush, to continue the Boston-based law firm's growth in California. Cox, who was a Republican member of Congress for 17 years, will join Bingham's Orange County office in Costa Mesa, California as a partner. He will be part of Bingham's corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and securities practice. Earlier this month, Bingham had announced plans to acquire the 120-lawyer firm McKee Nelson LLP.
