Salans snares employment law team from Beiten Burkhardt
Salans is expanding its employment practice in Berlin with the hire of eight lawyers from German rival Beiten Burkhardt. The employment law team includes four partners, Hendrik Muschal, Utz Andelewski, Marcus Longino and Carsten Brachmann, as well as four associates, Simon Boehnke, Markus Diepold, Matthias Stelzer and Veit Vossberg. “We have significantly increased our capability to provide seamless advice on all aspects of employment law arising out of complex corporate and restructuring transactions,” comments Andreas Ziegenhagen, managing partner for Salans Germany. "We are therefore able to meet the growing demand for employment-related advice in direct response to the global economic crisis. With these new hires, we also take a significant step forward in further developing our German practice overall, and a full-service offering to clients.” Hendrik Muschal, Carsten Brachmann and Utz Andelewski have been with Beiten Burkhardt as partners since 2002. Marcus Longino joined the team in 2004. Muschal and Brachmann had already worked together previously at Muschal & Wiese, a German employment law boutique. The team will primarily advise listed companies in all aspects of individual and collective employment law. They also specialise in advising on cross-border transactions relating to Russia, Ukraine and China. With the new hires, Salans has increased its headcount in Germany to over 65 lawyers, of which 21 are partners (Berlin: 18; Frankfurt: 3). Salans has 21 offices and 750 lawyers worldwide, of which 186 are partners.
