Olswang hires former Mayer Brown Partner as head of real estate group

Gary Watson has been recruited as the new head of Olswang’s real estate group. Watson comes to the firm from Mayer Brown, and has nearly 30 years of experience in the field. The former head of the group, Tim Westhead, will step down next month after 12 years in the role, but will remain a real estate partner at the firm. Olswang managing partner David Stewart said Watson’s arrival highlighted the firm’s commitment to investing in its real estate practice and its confidence in the sector in general. “We’re proud of our strong real estate team and its market-leading reputation,” added Stewart. “We have ambitious plans for future growth in 2010 and beyond.”
