Hogan & Hartson's Geneva office jumps ship ahead of merger with Lovells
The Geneva office of Hogan & Hartson has abandoned ship ahead of the merger with Lovells, opting instead to join with US firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. The Geneva office and its seven lawyers will stay in its current premises, and managing partner Charles Adams will continue to head up the office, but the Akin Gump banner will replace that of Hogan & Hartson from 1 May. Hogan chairman Warren Gorrell said: "While we are sorry to see these lawyers leave, and we wish them well - their departure will not impact our plans or prospects. "We continue to have extensive, highly regarded capabilities in international arbitration, tax, and international trade, and these capabilities will be augmented further following our combination with Lovells. We remain excited and bullish as we move ahead with our combination planning and the upcoming launch of Hogan Lovells." This latest split comes after the announcement that 18 partners have split from Hogan & Hartson’s Berlin office to set up a new firm called Raue.
