Credit crunch causes traffic in UK courts
A new survey has revealed a huge rise in commercial litigation in the UK courts, where over a thousand claims are being launched each month. Large commercial claims (upwards of £25,000) are up by ten per cent. The survey – produced by Reynolds Porter Chamberlain LLP – concludes that the increase in litigation is the result of the financial recession, and suggests that UK courts are processing a large proportion of global disputes because of London’s position as global banking centre, and because many of the financial instruments used in financial dealings are under English law.
