Unpaid internships at law firms may be illegal

The recent trend of firms taking on recent law graduates to work for free may meet with legal challenge, as practitioners advise that such arrangements may be illegal. “There are very few circumstances under which an unpaid intern can be used in a for-profit business,” says Paul DeCamp, wage and hour practice group at Jackson Lewis.
