Merger talks resume between Mayer Brown and Simmons

Merger talks between Mayer Brown and Simmons & Simmons have been revived, with management teams engaged in high level talks last week. The merged firms would make a global business with 2,400 lawyers and an annual turnover of £1 billion. The renewed energy behind the negotiations comes as a number of firms sign up for transatlantic mergers, including Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal with Denton Wilde Sapte, and Hogan & Hartson with Lovells.
