UK firm Hammonds in merger talks with US firm Squire Saunders & Dempsey"

Transatlantic consolidation within the legal sector continues apace with UK law firm Hammonds confirming that it is in merger talks with US firm Squire Saunders & Dempsey. If negotiations proceed the decision on whether to merge will occur via partnership vote before the end of the year. The consolidated firm would be expected to bring in revenue of $625 million (£405 million). Hammonds managing partner Peter Crossley said the merger would help the firm to meet its long-term growth strategy. He said: “Operating as one firm around the world is a foundation of the Hammonds culture which is shared by Squire Saunders.”
